We are in Shimla now! The last week in Manali we were both sick and down but not out. Manali was an epic, crazy adventure but being sick made us officially stir crazy and ready to go. So when we got well, at the first chance it was time to move on and go to Shimla. The drive was beautiful: it was great to be out in the sun again, to see dry landscapes, palm trees growing on the side of mountains, kids running everywhere, the largest highways we've seen yet, dust, smoke, light, a full moon, tiny fires all over, the jaypee cement factory looming in the distance, new rivers, new mountains. And now we're in Shimla. Back to work tomorrow.

rhotang return

Rhotang pass part 2. In a few years we are told this road to Rhotang will be gone and people will instead have to trek up to the mountain top to see snow. in the meantime, there are traffic jams, food stalls, horses, dirt bikes, and people everywhere basking in the snow.
